What is AVO?

(Africa Volunteer Opportunities) AVO is a youth-led non-profit organisation under Young Visionary Leaders Ghana, dedicated to improving volunteer experiences in Ghana through various community projects.

Who can volunteer with AVO?

Anyone aged 18 or older can volunteer with AVO. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who want to make a difference.

How can I volunteer with AVO?

Simply fill out the registration form on our website and choose a program that interests you. We recommend registering at least one month before your planned arrival.

How long can I volunteer with AVO?

You can volunteer for a month to three months. We offer flexibility to suit your schedule.

What is included in the program fee?

The program fee covers accommodation, meals (breakfast and dinner), transportation, internet access, a local SIM card, and sightseeing opportunities.

Are there any additional costs?

Yes, you will need to cover the cost of lunch, snacks, and any personal transportation or activities outside of the program.

Will I have somewhere to stay?

Yes, AVO provides accommodation for all volunteers, including shared or private rooms depending on availability.

Do I need to bring any special items with me?

It’s important to bring your personal medications, any required vaccinations, and comfortable clothing suitable for the Ghanaian climate. You may also want to bring a camera for sightseeing!

How do I get to Ghana?

You would need a Visa. Volunteers are responsible for booking their own flights and securing their visa. If you require a visa on arrival, AVO can assist with the process. Volunteers will need to pay a separate fee to AVO for visa assistance and arrangement. This request should be made at least one week after submitting your program registration form. Please contact us for more details on how we can help with your visa application.

What if I need medical help during my stay?

While AVO cannot cover medical expenses for treatments or emergencies during your time volunteering, we encourage you to bring any necessary medications (e.g., prescriptions, personal health items) for the duration of your stay. We also recommend packing any over-the-counter remedies you may need, as they might not be readily available in Ghana. Your health and well-being are important to us!
